Jamie sat in the second row all the way against the wall in her anthropology class. Students wandered in, the majority of them being freshmen, so they all had the same wide-eyed, terrified look of bewilderment. Even she felt it from time to time. She just hid it better, or at least she hoped she did. She lifted her left foot, pushing up against the seat of the chair next to her. Her hand was in a fist and pushing against her chin. Jeans and a band tee shirt, her hair in a bun, was the normal dress for her.
Jamie let her mind wander while she waited for the class to fill up and begin. Not thinking a thing, drifting off and letting herself relax if only for a moment. So when there was a tap on her shoulder she nearly jumped out of her seat.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you jump."
She shook her head and took her foot off the chair. "Stop sneaking up on me, Scott." She smiled rolling her eyes as she spoke
"Maybe, I should sit somewhere else."
"No. Here. Sit."
The classroom buzzed with chatter. Everyone was getting to know each other. The door opened and everyone fell silent. A man in maybe his early thirties, easily over six feet tall, holding a binder walked down the aisle of chairs to the front of the room. Obviously, he was the professor, but he didn't dress the part. He wore a white dress shirt, black vest, black pants, and a multicolored scarf. His light brown, curly hair was almost out of control with how long it was, though it looked like he tried to keep it back with gel or something.
Didn't matter. His face was all angles, and even from the back of the room, Jamie could see he had really blue eyes, the kind that sort of pop out and made themselves obvious.
"Good morning. I'm Doctor Bond, James Bond." He paused holding the bottom of his vest. He had a slight accent, British, probably English, but it was subtle like maybe he'd only spent a little time there or hadn't been in England in a long time. "Andrew Bond, actually; but I always like to tell that joke on the first day of classes." He smiled and let out a laugh.
A mix of laughs and chuckles spread through the room.
"I think I could like him," Jamie whispered to Scott.
Anyone who made a James Bond joke at his own expense was good in her book. The professor clapped his hands and rubbed them together.
