In July of 2018, Gail and her husband went to their local shelter to look at a dog listed on their website. That dog wasn't available, so they wandered through the shelter. So many dogs barked frantically when they stepped inside, desperate to be seen. 

But not this one dog. He kept looking at the door like he was looking for someone, but he didn't bark. He didn't get excited. And something about him called to Gail in a way she never felt before. So they took him home. He rode in her lap the short distance to the house, but in that short time he had decided Gail was his person. Forever. And almost as quickly, Gail knew he was her heart dog, her soul dog. She had loved many dogs in her life, but none filled her heart so fully as Tommy.
